Learn About Fancy Color Diamond

In the diamond industry, value is determined by rarity. The value of diamonds in the normal range of color is determined by the absence of color. Colorless diamonds are the most rare for diamonds that fall within the normal range of D- z. On the other hand, when it comes to Fancy Colored Diamonds pinks, blues and greens are the rarest. Fancy colored diamonds are diamonds that whose hue/color falls outside the normal range of D- z. Even the slightest color differences in fancy colored diamonds have an impact on the value.

Fancy browns and yellows are not as valuable as diamonds with a noticeable hint of any other hue. Diamonds that show color when they are face- up, even in weak saturation or light tones, qualify as fancy colors. The most rare colors are red, green and blue diamonds with medium to dark tones and moderate saturation.

GIA grades fancy colored diamonds as Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid.
